For My Life

God didn’t promise me
Days without pain,
Or laughter without sorrow,
Or the sun without rain.
He did promise me strength
For all my days,
Comfort for my tears,
And Light for my entire life.

Now

I was in yesterday
When God awakened
Me from Heaven—
Now I am in today
I was blind
Before His beams of light
Showered down upon me—
Now I see
I was deaf,
Until the sounds of mighty
Choirs filled my ears—
Now I hear
I was thirsty,
And from His fountain
Flowed living water—
Now I thirst no more
I was once weak
Before the Spirit
Gave me peace—
Now I am strong
